WHEN: May 10th (7 days, way too short of a visit)
WHERE: White Mountains, New Hampshire
WHY: Chasing Winter
SHELTER: Random Resort in North Conway
PERKS: All the Perks!
Let's wrap up the New Hampshire adventure. It has been a long time since May, but we have been busy wrangling life and exhausting ourselves on a few other adventures. This seems to happen during the summer months when I get behind on the trip journal.

What to expect from this post
Remick Country Doctor Museum, Tamworth, NH (donation-based for museum, tours & classes, and more for $, interior not wheelchair accessible as it is historic): While most places in the area were closed for the season Remick's was alive and enthusiastic. That is where Bob ran into an old relative...this sweet goat was so excited to see him and didn't want him to leave.
Remick's Farm was originally settled 200 years ago and was home and office to two generations of town doctors and six generations of Remicks. The late Dr. Remick decided in 1993 shortly before his death to create a foundation leaving the homestead to the public for community and education. They have everything from homeschool classes to groceries straight from the backyard. We felt right at home, they even had some recipes up for grabs in the kitchen and a reading room that left us remembering the scents of childhood visits with older family members. Good memories, enjoy the pics!
Kancamagus Highway, Conway to Woodstock, NH ($5-$40, wheelchair friendly at times): A scenic route of 34.5 miles that I am glad we didn't miss. "The Kanc" weaves through a few small towns with days of adventure within the White Mountain National Forest.

At first, we were a bit overwhelmed and did quite a bit of research to locate the spots along "The Kanc" that we could get me to with either my mobility scooter or other assistance. Luckily we overheard someone say to stop at the White Mt Forest Saco Ranger Station (33 Kancamagus Hwy, Conway, NH 03818) as they are more helpful with route planning as they aren't as busy. They were so right, the two fellas in there circled everything I could easily explore. So thankful!
A few of the sites off of "The Kanc"
General Wanderings & Tiny Towns: Rt 302, 16, & 3:

Cathedral Ledge ($5, trail accessible) towers over the town of Conway with an ideal rock face that is popular with rock and ice climbers.
We headed up to the ledge in our Jeep and it was a pretty slow climb. I am not sure how bicyclists and many types of cars make it up there. Our Jeep was pretty tired after the climb. At the top, I didn't make it out to the edge, but Bob did and took some photos for me.
Bretton Woods (now Omni-owned): Sits proudly at the base of the Mt. Washington Summit and was built in 1902 and is surrounded by 6,400 acres.

Tiny Towns Along 302, 3, 16, 112: While we made the loop around the White Mountains we stopped and enjoyed several tiny towns. North Conway, Jackson, Bethlehem, Littleton, Moultonboro, and tons more. I don't know about Bob, but if I need to grow roots this area of America seems like the place for me.
I started missing New Hampshire the second we started heading South. We have already made our plans to return and visit family and friends along the way. I leave you with Boston Brother's Pizzeria of North Conway. Great customer service and they made me a sandwich I could eat (I haven't had a sub sandwich in 20 plus years and can't wait to go back and have another).
See you all after we get back from Boone, NC!
