Rootless Ramblers Trip #1: Definitely will come back

WHY: to escape the Virginia cold and learn about Burnadebt

HOOKUPS: water and 50 amp hook up with an outhouse

EXTRAS: boating and fishing for an extra fee, lots of events during in season

REGRETS: letting Mel lead the way without the walkie-talkies, return trip was much smoother

Sorry that it has been a bit since our last post, the internet has been quite spotty on the road and at home base. Last week we headed south to escape the frigid temps of Virginia and it worked. We found this great little private campground, Juniper Creek Outfitters at Baysden Pond, where the hostess was the mostess. We ended up with a very spacious site as we had the entire campground to ourselves except for one night there was a couple in the glamping cabin. So much peace and quiet and lots of birds, we added a good 15 to our bird-watching app. Bob cooked us dinner on his new Blackstone and baby person enthusiastically burned up all those boxes that we had been carrying around.

While we loved hanging out with Burnadebt we wandered a bit down to Wilmington, NC to see what this Museum of the Bizarre was all about. Basically, this fun little place gives you a glimpse of oddity collections including a funtastic section of serial killer memorabilia as well as lots of movie props and mortuary doodads. All of our favorite kinds of stuff...Wilmington will have to wait another day for us to explore all that this Cape Fear riverside town has to offer on another visit as momma will need a scooter to get up and down all those hills. And yes, the door says $3 for admission...well worth the one-hour drive.

When we got back Bob was especially excited to take his first shower in the RV as higher temps allowed for us to get some water in the tank. I know it is a little thing but getting the water trickling was a cause for celebration. All the systems worked great though back at home base we will still be taking wandering showers so as not to fill up our tanks.
