Going with the flow while still hanging on to our dream.

As you probably know already we are having a transmission issue, but fingers crossed Bob had a lightbulb moment and it looks like we can get back to having high hopes and planning some road time. It is too late to get too far away as we have one kid spending the Summer with us and another getting married in September. Still, cross your fingers!

Waiting for this replacement part to come in and then we will know for sure...meanwhile, let's look at some changes we made to Burnadebt. BONUS POINTS IF YOU CAN NAME THIS PART

Magic Space!

What is this magic? A friend of ours built a solution to a problem we were having. Many RVs have stupid TV setups and if you can believe it they don't come with sewing cabinets. So he made an all-in-one with a televator with plenty of room to stow my sewing machine and still have workspace. Maybe this will catch on in the RV community.

Out with the old, in with the New!

Next champagne problem, RV couches are uncomfortable. After months of wandering, measuring, and trying out couches we finally found this beauty. What good is a well-placed TV if we wouldn't use the couch? Yes, we lost some footprint but well worth it to be able to snuggle up and take in some evening screentime. If you knew us in our last life then you know that we opened and closed a bar every day and maybe snuck in some TV time a few times a month. So we are binging this quiet time together and holding it dear with a side of dinner...just another thing we didn't do together before selling the bar.

A little extended comfort!

Our extended stay at our host location has been amazing and our hosts have gone above and beyond with making us feel welcome and part of the family. We did have an ongoing water challenge inside the RV as we couldn't take it down the road to dump out the old and add the new. We were wandering about regularly looking for showers which can feel tedious to always have to pack up our toiletry bag just in case we ran into a shower opportunity. Then the lady of the house had a great idea for us to shower in one of the old horse wash stalls. In came a plumber to get the plumbing changed over to human and Bob assembled a little privacy screen. We love it so much we haven't stepped into a house shower since.

Meanwhile, all the farm fun still happening!

I know some of this fun looks like work and some chores are harder on our bodies than other chores. One of our favorite daily routines was protecting the barn swallows from the barn cats. It is an amazing joy to watch this mating pair take such good care of their young and we knew how hard they worked to prepare them for the world. So when they fledged and yellow kitty grabbed one of the babies up the minute it hit the ground we had a strong enough reaction that kitty dropped that baby and we scooped it up and got it back on its wings. And speaking of wee folk, we have had a little visitor helping around the farm, she is so proud of herself working along the biggers.

So what have the biggers been up to? Well, we watched the hay grow, then we watched it get mowed, then we watched it dry...then it was work time for anyone who had hands and feet and the strength to lift 50 pounds repetitively. They were all beat after all that baling and storing of 9 acres of hay. Honestly, I lost track of how many but it was a lot and they were out there all day catching some sun. We wrapped up that evening with a little birthday campfire and grillin'.

And per our usual activities, the lawn still gets mowed, the donkeys still get tended and Bob even wrangles an occasional horse. I guess this year has become more of an opportunity to break in our new skills for future workamping than a gap year. When we first made the decision to go rootless we didn't want to jump into something at first and preferred to take the time for life to lead us. Lead us it did.
